I'm always thankful for the few days I have here in Belgium whenever possible.
It's like my chill out and have my own time to myself period you know.
I'm currently aching from head to toe. Oww my head.
Yesterday, I had the scariest 20 minutes ride of my life. Launching was terrible enough, getting caught in the powerboats and other lasers..(Thank you to the 2 Japanese 470 guys who helped me get out of the mess in the end.)
Got towed by Brett upwind in about 20 knots, huge choppy waves..plus he was going full throttle. No choice because we were going to be late for the start. My cap flew off a while after I launched so I didn't have my cap on and my hair was so messy and my hair rubber band was loose so I looked like a mad woman. (Luckily Brett picked my cap up..)
I almost died trying to hold on the the tiller and sheet in sheet out while trying not to fall off the boat because it was so unstable especially with my cockpit full of brown lake water and trying not to get caught in Manyi's tow line in my boat. Every time I saw his powerboat fly up after a wave, I thought to myself, NICE, and held on tight because the next thing I knew was my bow was high up in the air and ready to slam down again. And of course he had to tack towards the end and that's when the crazy boom hit my forehead. Now I have a bump on my forehead...
And a few seconds after we reached the start line, the signal went off.
Thank god for the crazy tow.
But then again ah, I got DNF for that race.. so.. haha. Shouldn't have sailed at all!! It was hilarious. It went like this.
At the start, I thought to myself: Try not to be last. Keep hiking keep hiking keep hiking.
Halfway up the first beat: Ok Plan A failed, try not to be last by too far. Keep hiking keep hiking keep hiking.
After rounding the top mark: Plan B failed, ok, try not to DNF. Hike hike hike.
First downwind: Plan C failed. Stay upright. Stop capsizing.(And then Brett was waving hello to me at the bottom mark when I was trying to upright my boat..!)
I did cross the finish line but a little too late! (Thanks to Jo Aleh who finished like 2 legs ahead of me!) Haha.. Capsized only 4 times la.
After the race, Brett was laughing and he said: Well, you're a little too short, a little too light, a bit less fit and less experienced than the good girls.. so it's ok! Well done.
Brett is so funny.
Anyway, the 470s had a worse day than me. Roy broke his rudder, Zhen OCS and Chin got last. So they shouldn't have sailed too! Haha..
Now, i'm just staying home, patiently waiting for the lactic acid to leave my tired muscles, and for the bump on my forehead to flatten out a bit. Listening to songs in my iTunes that i've never heard before. Waiting for lunch time when daddy will come home and we'll go out for lunch.
There are so many DVDs that I have to watch. So little time. So how.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
