oo, finally getting some internet..
first time at hyeres. i like the ice cream here.
yesterday: was almost the worst day ever.
1) went down to rig up without sail
2) walked all the way back up to get sail
3) went back down and realised the outhaul was attached to racing sail not training sail
4) no pulley for outhaul, didn't go back up cos i was running late for my slot
5) how how how. borrowed manyi's pulley cos she wasn't sailing that day
6) can't rig up cos the wind was blowing like crazy and there was no one to help me
7) thank you chinese guy for helping in the end
8) after i changed, the boom whacked the side of my face real hard and i got
9) had trouble launching cos wind was blowing from non-ideal direction
10) finally launched after a few attempts
11) went out and waited for my turn while wind was picking up at constant pace
12) was almost 20 knots by the time i started
13) wind continued to pick up plus it was gusty and shifty
14) first exercise was to practice mark rounding but ended up capsizing almost non-stop
15) never moved on to next exercise, cos i was still capsizing with every maneuver(even just sailing upwind, gust hit hard and capsize)
16) outhaul rope that attaches pulley to mast broke
17) nice
18) fixed it after a while
19) continued my capsize drill
20) went back to shore
it wasn't as bad as it sounds. went for a drive to pick Liz and Tara up in Hyeres town.. they had a worse day than me so i wasn't complaining at all. the French man bus drivers are mean people.
anyway, today was ok!
went to yacht club earlier. the wind felt as though i was stronger than yesterday but its cos it was onshore wind. still strong. about a constant 15-16 knots. tiring but it was fun!
and i didn't capsize. haha. hooray.
